As the journey begins,.... As we explore our own spiritual path. We discover that we operate within a framework of similar experiences. For instance, meditation may be the framework, but how you arrive at a meditative state and the information you’re given during it will be truly unique and personal to you. It is these experiences that we learn from and build upon.By exploring our own inner world through disciplines such as meditation, yoga, chanting or energy work. We come to find that these methods of connecting with spirit are the framework through which we operate. They allow us to center and focus ourselves on the spirit within us.It seems as if we are assembling a puzzle and each experience brings another piece of that puzzle into focus somehow. You never know how that piece of information is going to play into the picture until you arrive at that time of its usefulness. This framework of similar experiences seems to link us with other like-minded people. You may find you will start to gravitate towards others who share similar interests. Have you ever heard the expression "Like attracts like"? Say, for example, you walk into a bookstore looking for information on creative writing and you happen to start chatting with someone in the bargain book section. Amazingly you find out that this person belongs to a writing group that meets at the library every month. As you talk, you seem to have similar interests. You exchange numbers and promise to see each other at the creative writing meeting next month at the library. As you meet other like-minded people, I believe you’ll find as I did, that many of their experiences are going to sound familiar to you. You may even come to find that there will be a running theme to certain shared experiences between friends.Dreams can be especially enlightening. You may find yourself listening to a friend tell you about a recent dream they had, only to find that you, yourself just had a similar experience through in a dream. The point is that the experience has meaning to you and that it brings illumination to you and your life.As you explore your spiritual path keep in mind that even though we may have similar experiences, they way we relate them to our own lives might be different.A Shaman once told me that you can never walk the same path as someone else. You can walk parallel paths at the same time as others, but it can never be the same exact path. For it would mean that someone is either pushing or pulling you. We each have to find our own way.Learn all that you can from as many sources as you can. Be exceedingly aware of what you take in and make your own. Then decide what you believe. It is in that action that you become who you are meant to be.Slain Abhaile (Safe Journey),Rebecca© Copyright - All Rights Reserved |
